Welcome to Islam
Whether you took your Shahada yesterday or years ago, Al Arqam is here to support you โ with no judgement, and no expectation that you already know it all.
You belong here
Becoming Muslim is a huge and beautiful step, and it's completely normal to feel unsure about what comes next. You don't need to know Arabic, memorise anything, or have it all figured out before you walk through our doors. Our community has supported many people through this same journey, and we're glad to walk alongside you.
Where to begin
1. Shahada
If you haven't yet, the Imam can guide you through the declaration of faith whenever you're ready.
2. Learn to Pray
We'll teach you the basics of Salah step by step โ no rush, no pressure.
3. Meet the Community
Come to Jumu'ah, a class, or just say hello after a prayer.
4. Find a Mentor
Join our mentoring program for ongoing, one-on-one support.
Learning Salah step by step
We offer one-on-one guidance for new Muslims learning to pray for the first time โ covering wudu (ablution), the movements of prayer, and the short verses needed to begin. Many new Muslims start by learning just Maghrib or Isha, and build from there.

Our Islamic Education classes welcome absolute beginners, including adults. You'll start with Arabic letter recognition and basic reading (Qaida) in a small, supportive class alongside others at a similar stage.
