What is Taleem?

A simple daily habit, done together

Taleem is a family-based learning program built around reading one hadith a day from a shared book, together as a household. It takes just a few minutes, but builds a lasting habit of daily reflection on the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ.

Families read at home in their own time, then come together weekly at Al Arqam to discuss, ask questions, and take part in a friendly competition based on what they've read.

How It Works

Three simple steps

1. Read Daily

Each family reads one short hadith from the Taleem book at home โ€” often after Maghrib or before bed.

2. Reflect & Discuss

Parents and children talk about what the hadith means and how to apply it that day.

3. Gather Weekly

Families come together at Al Arqam for a weekly halaqah, recap, and friendly competition.

The Book

What families read from

Our Taleem program uses a widely-used collection of everyday hadith, translated with simple explanations suitable for both children and adults. Copies are available at the Al Arqam office, or can be ordered in advance ahead of a new term.

Competition Format

Friendly, family-based competition

Each week, families are asked simple questions based on that week's readings. Points are tallied per family across the term, with a leaderboard displayed at Al Arqam so everyone can see their progress.

Rewards & Prizes

Recognising participation

Top-performing families receive small prizes at the end of each term, and every participating family receives a certificate of completion. The focus is on consistency and participation rather than competition alone.

FAQ

Common Questions

Do we need to attend every week?

Regular attendance helps families stay engaged, but we understand life gets busy โ€” you're always welcome back the following week.

Is Taleem suitable for very young children?

Yes โ€” younger children are welcome to join in as listeners while older siblings and parents lead the discussion.

Do we need to buy the book ourselves?

Copies are available through Al Arqam at a low cost, and are also compatible with several existing English translations if your family already owns one.
